So you’re looking for an anti-aging treatment to smooth out wrinkles, add volume to your face and drop a few years off your appearance. But you aren’t ready to look down the business end of an anti-wrinkle needle.

If so, then at first glance it would appear that Fusion Beauty’s LiftFusion is the perfect product for you. Whether it is in fact the miracle, needle-less alternative to Botox and dermal fillers that it promises to be, deserves some consideration; despite the fact that the product has received the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval. This, especially since LiftFusion promises results within 10 minutes of application where most other topical products take up to 30 days to show visible results.

The makers claim…
According to Fusion Beauty, LiftFusion does the following:

  • Transform the skin's appearance into firm, smooth, virtually wrinkle-free skin
  • Smooth even deep wrinkles
  • Soften vertical and horizontal forehead furrows, frown lines, crow's feet and nasolabial lines
  • Dramatically transform skin tone and texture

This, it is claimed, is done by a patented technology called M-Tox, which is transmitted through the outer layer of skin in the form of nanospheres and contains both anti-wrinkle ingredients (hyaluronic acid spheres) and muscle inhibitors. Also present are a blend of proteins that boost collagen production for firmer and more resilient skin over the long term. What LiftFusion does, therefore, is to return to the skin key components such as collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid, the loss of which causes wrinkles.

The ingredients
What primarily delivers results in the case of LiftFusion is Amino Butyric Acid or GABA, which inhibits neurotransmitters and thus prevents wrinkles by paralyzing muscles much as Botox does. The other two effective ingredients in this product are the peptide combination Matrixyl 3000, which is a powerful anti-oxidant and hyaluronate, which gives the product effects similar to those of fillers such as Restylane and Juvederm

However, there are other ingredients in LiftFusion that some product reviewers have raised objections to including Sodium Polyacrylate and Barium Sulphate, both of which have some risk of toxicity.

The bottom line
LiftFusion does offer a fairly effective solution against wrinkles. However, reviews are not unanimously in favor of this product as against Botox, Restylane and Juvederm. Outside of the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval and other celebrity endorsements, LiftFusion does not yet have convincing user reviews or a large enough body of clinical trials to convincingly back its claims. This against Botox, which accounted for nearly 3 million cosmetic procedures in 2007.

Such a lack of evidence is especially problematic when considered along with the hefty $140 price tag that LiftFusion comes at, much higher than the cost of many other multi-functional, topical anti-aging products. What’s more, LiftFusion’s effects are considerably less lasting than that of Botox or the dermal fillers. Finally, the fact that LiftFusion does not come with a money-back guarantee, unlike many other anti-aging creams and solutions, does not do much to inspire confidence.

At present, a definite verdict on LiftFusion is a rather difficult prospect. Certainly, the product does demonstrate a strong capability for fighting wrinkles. However, the question of whether it delivers benefits commensurate enough to make injectables like Botox and Restylane redundant is still up for debate.
